Position Description and Key Responsibilities
The company is seeking a candidate that is motivated, versatile, and highly organized. The main duties of this position will be serving as assistant controller for three dairy operations, a feedlot operation, a small farming company, and will include involvement in a real estate holdings company. Our office consists of other team members in this role and would report to the current controller for the operations listed above.

Monthly financial statement preparation of the three dairy operations and 1 feedlot including account analysis and reconciliation

Quarterly financial statement preparation of the farming operation including account analysis and reconciliation

Oversee the reporting and accounting of any new construction projects for these operations

Create and maintain annual operating and capital budgets

Responsible for managing operational data and ensuring data integrity and accuracy, includes both data originating from site of operations and data prepared by our office team

Work closely with the Group Controller and other accounting staff on daily finance and accounting activities

Assist in year-end closing and preparation for annual CPA prepared reviews and tax returns

Miscellaneous projects and analysis as needed

Occasional travel required, typically 2-3 days of travel, semi-annually, as locations are located in Iowa and South Dakota
Ideal Candidate

4 year accounting degree

6+ years of experience, public accounting experience or MBA preferred

Energetic and positive personality that takes pride in ownership

Must be a meticulous self-starter and have the ability to prioritize and multi-task to meet deadlines

Confident person with strong communication skills who is able to get along with people of various backgrounds

Well organized and detail oriented

Must possess strong analytical skills as well as solid understanding of costing and manufacturing accounting

Understand processes, controls, and business risks and possess the mindset to look for improvements

Must embrace technology and be able to adapt to changes in it as its often a tool used to improve processes and gain efficiencies. Strong MS Office skills preferred (Outlook, Excel)
